101st Vyasa-puja Offering From Akinchana Das
All Glories to Shri Sita-Rama!
All Glories to Shri Guru and Gauranga!
A humble offering to Most Beloved and Most Revered HDG Shrila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaja on his holy advent day celebration 2025.
I had the most fortunate and undeserved opportunity to meet HDG Shrila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaja in 1980 at the Kolkata branch of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math. It was my good luck that he happened to be staying there for two weeks, as he was usually engaged with preaching tours that took him all over India. I was introduced by a vanachari devotee, Sudama prabhu, who was residing at the math at that time. I had come to be at the temple at the behest of Sudama after a chance meeting with him on the streets of Kolkata. I can distinctly remember entering the room where Shrila Tirtha Maharaja had just finished honouring prasadam. A number of senior sannyasis were also there, which made me very nervous. However, this was soon dispelled by the charming smile and soothing voice of Shrila Tirtha Maharaj, who invited me to sit beside him. This meeting was the beginning of a wonderful relationship that persisted until he entered Shri Radha-Krishna’s eternal lila many years later.
Even though I was not in India for much of this time, he never forgot me. He was the epitome of compassion along with so many other divine qualities. He would always write so many long and involved letters, which must have taken much effort, advising how to achieve success in establishing one’s relationship with Krishna. I also will never forget him.
Upon the order of his Most Revered shiksha guru, HDG Shrila Bhakti Pramod Puri Goswami Maharaja, he travelled out of India to different countries, including the USA, where I had the opportunity to assist him with his preaching engagements. Those were heady times, which I remember most fondly. What an incredible personality! Mere words cannot describe those days. His unique humility, wisdom, and disarming mannerisms won over the hearts of all. This is no exaggeration. Never in my life have I seen such a great personality! He is so loving and caring that it melts the heart when one contemplates his divine nature. Whenever, one sees him, it's impossible not to think of Mahaprabhu Himself. There are so many incredible pastimes that he performed that are worthy of glorification, but they are beyond the scope of this present offering.
On this day and all other days, I offer my most humble dandavat pranam to HDG Shrila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaja and pray for the dust of his lotus feet upon my head. I love him dearly and hold him close to my heart. I humbly pray and await the day, even if billions and billions of lifetimes away, when I might gain the qualification to associate with him once again. Such is my sincere wish.
