He Makes the Impossible Possible

Śri Śri Guru Gauranga Rādhā Vallabh Jiu are the worshipable deities of our Bhatinda maṭh. Bhatinda maṭh came into existence by the desire and blessings of our Gurudeva. He laid the foundation stone, was the first to give money for its construction, and gave money for its completion. Impossible can be made possible by Gurudeva.  The initial 150 square yard land expanded into 1250 square yards because of his involvement in every aspect of its construction.

When it came time to name the deities, Gurudeva called for the book Śri Gaur Parṣādavali (Śri Caitanya, His Life & Associates in English) and looked up Śri Narottama Das Ṭhākur’s biography for the names of the deities manifested by him, choosing the name Śri Śri Rādhā Vallabhi Kānta.

I went to Jagadhari and visited one of our Param Gurudev’s disciples named Mitro Rani when I was collecting funds for the maṭh construction. When I requested her to speak about the glories of Gurudeva and Param Gurudeva, she narrated two instances.

Once she wanted to give our Gurudeva a t-shirt because the one he was wearing was very old, but he never accepted it and insisted that she give it to another god-brother. Another time during Kartik month during Vraja Mandal parikramā she was touched to see Param Gurudev walking around Gurudev’s tent with wet eyes in the middle of the night, worrying so much about his fever.  When she saw this, she realized how much concern, love, affection, and attachment Param Gurudeva had for our Gurudev.

Once in Chandigarh maṭh Gurudeva was sitting in the sankirtan hall while facing the deities and said that he felt very pleased to be there because coming near Śri Śri Guru Gauranga Rādhā Madhav Jiu, he was reminded of his Gurudev’s name. That was his mood. So by going near Śri Śri Rādhā Vallabh Jiu we will also remember our Gurudeva.

I remember also that if we said the name of the maṭh in short (Rādhā Vallabh Maṭh) Gurudev did not like it and asked us to utter the whole name: Śri Śri Guru Gauranga Rādhā Vallabh Jiu.

When we asked Gurudev to fix the date for the deity installation ceremony, Gurudeva suggested we should wait for the deities to be ready first before setting the date; it would not be good to keep changing the date. He sent me to complete some work with Param Pūjyapād Bhakti Suhrd Damodar Gosvāmī, our Gurudev’s senior god-brother in Kṛṣṇanagar and in-charge of Kṛṣṇanagar maṭh. That time he was down with a fever, but when he heard Gurudev’s name, he immediately got up and accompanied me to Navadvip to attend to that sevā.

During the deity installation ceremony, Gurudeva was completely immersed in kirtan for nearly one and a half hours. He sang, "ābāra ḍāke kuñja-vane, rādhe rādhe, eka-bāra ḍāke rādhā-kuṇḍe, ābāra ḍāke śyāma-kuṇḍe..." (from Kothāya Go Premamayi Rādhe by Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Mahārāj). Thus he manifested the deities from his heart.
