His Magnanimity Extends Beyond Jīvas in the Human Form

During the period of Kārtik observation, Gurudev had inaugurated the guest house at Goalpara. Bhakti Sarvasva Trivikram Mahārāj of Bhakti Saranga Gosvāmī's maṭh was also present there and Gurudev led him to the forefront and also asked him to speak hari-kathā on that occasion. He spoke on the necessity of hari-bhajan in human life. This also shows how Gurudev would give respect to his elders.

In 1997 Guru Mahārāj took the whole group of devotees and came to Krishnai, a small town near Goalpara near the Krishnai river. Earlier one brahmacārī of our maṭh had come and requested Gurujī to come to his āśram in Krishnai. To fulfill his desire, Gurujī made this trip to Krishnai. We all went there by bus. His āśram was quite small with a narrow pathway leading to it, about two and a half kilometers from the Krishnai town. It was in the middle of the fields without a single house in the vicinity.

When we all reached there it was afternoon time. While returning Gurujī began kirtan leading to the main town Krishnai and had planned to go into the market area there. I was walking alongside Gurudev and his face was turned upwards in the hot sun while he was singing, "rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol bolo re sobāi." I was feeling kheda (sorry, sad) that along such a long path in that hot sun, not a single house or a single soul came to welcome Gurujī, but Gurujī went on singing kirtans and I did not say anything.

When we reached the town area, Gurujī stopped kirtans and gave the kirtan-sevā to others. Not knowing how to speak with Gurujī at that time, I said, "You should have begun kirtans from here. There was not a single soul on that long path."

Gurujī looked at me and said, "Why do you say that no one was there?  There are so many trees, plants, and grass along the path. Don't they have the need to listen to Lord's Names? It is Mahāprabhu's teaching that when these trees and plants hear Lord's Names, they will be liberated. Therefore it is not correct that there was no one on the path, thus the kirtan."

Hearing this, I was surprised to see what platform Guru Mahārāj is on, what his vision is compared to the level on which I was thinking. I am seeing, lot of people, colonies, towns, cities, and then I do kirtan, and Gurudev's thoughts are like this. Thus, in Krishnai  I got this teaching.
