Adored by the Entire Gaudiya Society

I was a child when I first came to Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math, Kolkata to take darsan of the deities. It was evening time when Param Pujyapada Madhav Goswami Maharaj was coming down with his tridanda to set out for Puri. Pujyapada Maharaj asked his servants to inquire about our whereabouts and the purpose of our visit.

They gave our introduction to him. Pujyapad Maharaj said “Baba, I am going to Puri now. You should take some prasadam.” Pujyapada Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, who was a brahmachari that time, served us prasadam with his own hands. Though I was a child at that time, I still remember that incident even today.

In 1996, I was present with Tirtha Goswami Maharaj for the circumambulation of Vrajamandal for nearly 35 days. What ecstatic kirtan he sung!  What an extraordinary dance he performed! How efficient he was! His diligence and his powerful dance were all spellbinding.

He came to our Chaitanya ashram in Behala several times. He would smilingly say to me, “Yati Maharaj, I brought so many devotees with me.”

I would tell him, “Maharaj, please come. It’s a matter of great happiness for us.”

He would give a very affectionate glance upon me. When I fell ill or whenever I informed him about various programs in our ashram via letters through my sevaks, he would immediately send money.

Till today, he offers service to our Guru Maharaj (Srila Bhakti Kumud Sant Goswami Maharaj) and sends servants from Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math for various services in our math during festivals.

If transcendental persons like him do not descend repeatedly in various yugas to this earth that is filled with unholy things, then who would bring light to this earth burdened with unwanted things or persons?

Pujyapad Maharaj, who is the current Acharya of Chaitanya Gaudiya math is specially adored by the entire Gaudiya society. His personality, Vaishnav conduct, and his exemplified steady service to his Gurudeva makes him a person to be honored by all.

You have given the opportunity to serve Sri Hari and you are the rescuer of the fallen. All glories, all glories unto you, O Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj. I pay my obeisances unto your lotus feet. Please bestow a speck of your mercy on this servant. All glories, all glories unto you, O Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj.

Remembering His Entrance Into Nitya Lila

Srila Gurudev was always intoxicated in Krishna-nama-sankirtan, whether or not externally conscious. He was lying on the bed and was seemingly unaware as he was not communicating with any one of us externally, but inwardly he was relishing Krishna-namasankirtan offered by the devotees and also inspired devotees from within to come and join sankirtan movement.

Those who performed the sankirtans those last days on earth are the true servants of Srila Gurudev. Even though the sevaks were attending to the immediate medical services of Srila Gurudev, one would think that the best service was done by those who performed kirtans. Of this, there is no doubt.
Srila Gurudev could have concluded his pastimes much before but he chose this way to make us realize that the process of Krishna-nama-sankirtan is the only way by which everyone could stay united for a single purpose. Srila Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur had mentioned in his antim-vani (final instructions) to offer …

He Takes All Blame Upon Himself

After exchanging letters for several times, my beloved spiritual master, Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, has given me the instruction to preach in Singapore. Since then, for decades, one question was burning in my heart: How can I preach nicely? What should be our motivation when we preach? What is real preaching?

When I was going to meet Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaj in Punjab, asking him this question was all that I had in mind. In the Math, devotees were discussing the latest events. The main sevak of Srila Maharaj had left his service, and some devotees were commenting on how that was good because he had done some wrong things.

When I entered his bhajan kutir, another devotee was asking Srila Gurudev why that sevak had left. He replied with genuine humility: "It is not his fault. I have done some wrong, that's why he left."

At that very moment, my question evaporated, before I could even ask. It was answered by this one act of Srila Gurudeva's per…

No Fear When Following in the Steps of His Gurudeva

Most Revered Srila Gurudev, by His causeless mercy, encouraged me and my wife Bosudha Dasi to travel with Him to different places in India on his preaching tour at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011. After touring North India and Assam we came to Kolkata in Dec. 2010.

In the beginning of January 2011 there was an ongoing discussion among Srila Gurudeva's sevak team whether Srila Gurudev would be going to Chakdaha Jagannath temple for the annual festival or not as it was very cold there at that time. I was also afraid to go because I had just recovered from  illness.
One day, after Srila Gurudev's Tulsi parikrama, He was going towards His bhajan kutir and looking at my wife He asked her: "We will go to Chakdaha?" My wife responded that it depends on You (Gurudev).
Gurudev smiled and then pointing at me He said: "Everything depends on him (me). We will go?" I replied that I heard it is cold but that it depends on You (Gurudev).
Then Gurudev smiled and said:…
