Reports from Srila Gurudeva's Samadhi Ceremonies in Sri Mayapur Dham

Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj entered Nityalila on 21st April amidst 6 days long round the clock Sri Harinam Sankirtana, when His favorite bhajan, ‘Radha Kunda Tata Kunja Kutira" was being sung.

Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaj is a grand disciple of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura and disciple of His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Goswami Maharaja, founder of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math. He appeared on April 24,1924 at Amlapatti-Gwalpara, Assam, India, Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaja joined the institution in 1947 after completing His Masters Degree in Philosophy at Calcutta University (India). He served the Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math as its Secretary and took Sannyas in 1961.

As per instructions of HH Jayapataka Swami, a full ceremony of honoring an Acarya was performed by ISKCON Mayapur. Maharaja was received with a big kirtan by devotees and special invocation and Sanyas suktas by the Gurukulis...

On 22nd April, parikrama with the transcendental body of Maharaja in holy places of Navadvipa took place. Maharaja’s divine body was brought in procession into ISKCON Mayapur campus at noon, where outside the temple courtyard, he was honored with arati and pushpanjali, with singing of Je Anilo prayers by HH Gauranga Prem Swami, HH Bhakti Nityananda Swami, HG Jananivas prabhu, and many senior devotees of ISKCON Mayapur. Later, he was laid in samadhi ceremony at Sree Chaitanya Math.

On 23rd April, Smriti sabha or glorification of HH Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaja took place where he was remembered with affection by his godbrothers, disciples, and Vaishnavas in Navadvipa dhama.

On 20th April 2017, His Divine Grace Srila 108 Sri Srimad Bhakti Vallabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, entered into eternal pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Krishna in Sri Golok Dham. On 21st April His Divine Grace came to Sri Dham Mayapur.

10 buses and 8 taxis followed the procession from Kolkata math. Devotees from all over the world rushed to Sri Mayapur Dham for Srila Gurudev's darshan and Maha Samadhi ceremony. When the procession entered Sri Dham Mayapur, due to divine auspicious arrangement cool breeze and slight drizzling started for few minutes which is very auspicious. His Divine grace was welcomed with warm hearts with garlands, Pushpa-Abhishek, and arati lamps.

Forgoing institutional boundaries, many devotees came to join the procession of His Divine Grace. Gurudev was welcomed and served by all the Gaudiya maths and ISKCON temple in Mayapur with arati, garlands, and bhoga. The Next day on 22nd April, Ekadasi tithi, devotees continued to arrive for Gurudev's Darshan and seva.

That day, Srila Gurudev went to various other Gaudiya maths in a procession, including Sri Gopinath Gaudiya Math. He also stopped his rath at Sri Kshetrapal Shiva Mandir. After that, His Divine Grace was honored again with celestial arrangements by the ISKCON temple where many senior ISKCON devotees performed Srila Gurudev's aarti. Devotees were showering flowers from the top of the entrance gate and devotees in the procession were welcomed by sprinkling rose water.

Gurudev's procession circulated over ISKCON temple and returned to Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya math, Mayapur. There was a flood of emotions everywhere that day at Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math. Gurudev was given Maha Abhishek before the samadhi ceremony. Thousands of devotees attended the Maha Samadhi ceremony. All the devotees performed their homage with great emotions and devotions. His Divine Grace will always live in our hearts and continue to guide us with His teachings and instructions.
